                Douglas Mac Arthur was born on  Jan. 26, 1880 in the U.S army barracks in Little Rock Arkansas. His father  was an officer  in the military. He graduated at West Point in 1903. During world war 1 he organized the famed 42d infantry division.

After the war Mac Arthur was named superintendent of  West Point in 1919. He then took office  in the worst days of the great depression. He was also part of the bonus army in 1932.He was age 61 when world war 2 started. He led infantry's to fight in world war 2.He fought against germany to help the jewish people. President Roosevelt sent Mac Arthur and his family to Australia to protect the coast. He then went to fight at New Guinea and later on the Philippines.

After the bombing of Hiroshima ad Nagasaki the Japanese surrendered. The next day Mac Arthur was named supreme commander in Japan for the Allied power.
At the age of 65 he began a new career  as a commander  of the occupation of Japan. In 1950 president Harry truman ordered Mac Arthur to take command  of a small American military station, stationed in South Korea. To fight against North Korea. He entered a hospital in washington D.C.  in 1964. He under went 3 operations on his stomach. During a battle on April 5, 1964 Mac Arthur died during battle. He was  84 years old. .

He was a Hero of his time. "No one could deny that he had served his country well during the period when it assumed leadership over the free world." His complex  personality  inspired both love and fear.
